Olivia Sharp and Lily Shevlin teamed up this summer for an eight-week elective to Sri Lanka and Nepal to learn more about surgery outside the UK
Our first stop was Colombo, Sri Lanka, for four weeks of general surgery where we spent time at Colombo South Teaching Hospital and Asiri Surgical Hospitals. This was a fantastic opportunity to see fascinating cases, as well as experience first-hand the contrast between a state-funded and a private hospital.
