The Society’s Second National Undergraduate Surgical Conference attracted 100 students from across the UK

On Saturday 23 June 2012, the Preston Surgical Society held its Second Annual National Undergraduate Surgical Conference. The Society – known as Preston SurgSoc – was founded in 2009 by a group of medical students based at the Royal Preston Hospital. Throughout the year the society organises lectures and seminars as well as skills teaching for students interested in pursuing a surgical career.

The 2012 conference was organised in collaboration with Doctors Academy, an international not-for-profit organisation, and built upon the success of the first annual conference in 2011. The event was attended by 100 students from across the UK, from as far north as Edinburgh, extending to Southampton and Bristol in the south – the aim was to bring together students from across the country to network, present and celebrate the student surgical endeavour.
