The College’s new Surgical Skills Board will work with partners in the UK and abroad to create a co-ordinated and informed approach to simulation in surgery, so writes Professor Robert Steele
Simulation in surgery covers a wide range of procedures and levels of complexity, and the recent report by the CMO in England ‘Safer Medical Practice Machines, Mannequins and Polo Mints’ emphasises the importance of the integration of simulation into training programmes.

Bob Woodwards, the College’s new lead for surgical simulation, reviews the challenges of putting simulation more firmly on the training agenda
I was delighted to be appointed the College’s Professor of Simulation in Surgery, my remit being to progress the development of simulation in training across all surgical specialties. I look forward to bringing this about in parallel with advancing all areas of e-learning.
