The College’s Faculty of Dental Surgery announces the launch of a new diploma

The Membership in Primary Dental Care (MPDC RCSEd) has been developed by the Specialty Advisory Board in Primary Dental Care and is specifically designed to assess the clinical skills and knowledge of a general dental practitioner who demonstrates excellence in all aspects of their work across a range of competencies.

Professor Malcolm Jones, a consultant orthodontist and pro-Vice Chancellor for Health of Cardiff University, was awarded the Faculty Medal at a Diploma Ceremony in Edinburgh on 15 October.

The prestigious award was in recognition of Professor Jones’ many achievements and contributions to the profession. His career highlights include serving as Dean of Cardiff Dental School and as General Manager of the Dental Services in the south of Wales.

Dr David Felix, the Dean of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, has written to the deans of dental schools throughout the UK to arrange a series of talks to final year students over the coming months. The events, which will be supported by the Dental Regional Adviser network, will provide more information on what the College can offer students before and after they graduate.
