A past Dean of the Dental Faculty has received an EU grant for an initiative to harmonise dental CPD across Europe

In the context of public protection and freedom of movement of dental practitioners within EU boundaries, EU citizens need assurance that dental practitioners providing their care not only have a degree or license that meets EU-standards but that they maintain their knowledge and skills through ongoing education.

The Dental Faculty has awarded the Gold Medal for the MOrth RCSEd examination to Ross James McDowall. Ross undertook his three-year specialty orthodontic training at Manchester University Dental Hospital and the Royal Blackburn Hospital. He received the medal, which is awarded to the candidate scoring the highest mark in the year, at the British Orthodontic Conference in September and is pictured here being congratulated by Mr David Tewson, Chairman of the Orthodontic Specialty Advisory Board and lead examiner for the membership in orthodontics examination.

The College’s Faculty of Dental Surgery announces the launch of a new diploma

The Membership in Primary Dental Care (MPDC RCSEd) has been developed by the Specialty Advisory Board in Primary Dental Care and is specifically designed to assess the clinical skills and knowledge of a general dental practitioner who demonstrates excellence in all aspects of their work across a range of competencies.
