baus2011The 2011 Annual Meeting of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) was held at the BT Convention Centre in Liverpool, 20-23 June 2011

This year’s BAUS conference marked the first time the meeting had been held at Liverpool’s Convention Centre and the new venue proved to be a big success with both delegates and exhibitors, attracting just over 1150 delegates over the four days and 82 exhibitors.

 
Building ENT networks

ENT nurse practitioners gathered at the RCSEd in September to hear the latest developments in their field, writes Angela Griggs

The joint symposium Nurse-led Management of ENT Disorders attracted over 50 nurses from across the UK, Ireland, and Channel Islands. They included ENT outpatient nurses, nurse practitioners and ward-based nurses. Because these roles are often in isolation, this course is currently one of the few opportunities nurse practitioners have to meet and discuss nurse-led ENT issues, network and share information about their roles.

 
Promising start for research initiative

lsrgA new collaboration is aiming to promote research through trainee networks

The London Surgical Research Group (LSRG) Launch Evening took place on 7 September at Senate House, London.  The LSRG is a trainee-led research collaborative that already counts over 200 members.  Membership is free and open to everyone, regardless of level of surgical training or specialty. Members are able to run high quality multi-centre trials by harnessing the natural network of trainees.
