|Plenty to tweet about|

A preliminary analysis has been posted on what the Twitter activity of the royal surgical colleges reveals about them.
Posting his findings on Datasurg.net, Mr Ewen Harrison compared the social media activity of the four UK colleges and the American College of Surgeons, identifying key terms and considering how much these matched the colleges’ stated aims and objectives.
Mr Harrison, a Senior Lecturer in General Surgery and Honorary Consultant in Edinburgh, said: “Social media like Twitter allow organisations to directly engage with individuals in an unprecedented manner. A social media strategy should be defined and ideally reflect the core values of an organisation. The RCSEd has fully engaged with Twitter and I was interested in looking at what is tweeted and whether it reflected the College’s commitment to education and training.”
