|Exam lecture goes mobile|

The College’s touring MFDS lecture is half-way through its programme of dates, giving undergraduates at UK dental schools an insight into the examination.
Supported by the Dental Regional Advisers and local Council and Board members, students at Dundee, Bart’s and the London, Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol, Belfast and Sheffield have enjoyed talks on the examination and the opportunity to chat informally with the speakers and network over drinks and nibbles.

With attendance rates ranging from 25 to 80, the Outreach Team are working hard to organise events in the coming months in Birmingham, Cardiff, Kings College London, Leeds, Peninsula and at the University of Central Lancashire.
Feedback from attendees has been very positive with all speakers receiving excellent ratings. Students have told us that the lectures were informative and honest about the examination and the College and dissolved any myths or misunderstandings about the MFDS Examination.
The touring lecture has also given us an opportunity to promote our new Affiliate Network for students, dentists and DCPs – see advert below for the detail of the network categories, fees and benefits. Of the students who attended the events, 133 have since become affiliates and are warmly welcomed into the College.
We would like to thank the following people for making the lectures possible: Dr Ann Shearer, Dr Donald Thomson, Dr Philip Taylor, Professor David Wray, Professor Paul Brunton, Professor Jonathan Sandy, Dr Alex Milosevic, Ms Karen Humphreys, Dr John Rowson, and to all the students who helped with the coordination and advertising of the lectures.
Dental Affiliate Networks
The Faculty of Dental Surgery has launched a new Affiliate Network for Students, Pre-Membership Dentists and DCPs. Benefits of joining the network include a certificate of affiliation, an RCSEd email account, discounts on courses and events, discounted rates with dental publishers and much, much more.
Your guide to the MFDS
As a guide to prospective and current exam candidates, we have produced a booklet covering all the detail that surrounds the application and sitting of the MFDS. The booklet includes guidance on the location of our examination centres and everything a candidate could wish to know before applying to sit the examination, and includes testimonials from successful candidates.
